03 Feb Why Exercise Works For Weight Loss BUT Has Nothing To Do With Burning Calories
Before you start screaming at me….”YES IT DOES, YES IT DOES!!!” Read this:
If you walk on a treadmill for 30 min you are likely to burn about 100 calories…. very sad.
Let’s say you walk on that same treadmill 30 min every day for the next 10 days! You will burn about 1000 calories… To put that in perspective 1 Caramel Frappuccino from Starbucks is 510 Calories, so 2 of those in 10 days and the 5 hrs of treadmill work was all for not!
So WHY does working out work?
1 reason you will understand right away and the other reason might need more convincing.
First, when you exercise your body releases all kinds of endorphins and hormones and chemicals that trigger your brain and body to feeling good.
All those feelings of ecstasy do some really great stuff.
- When you feel good, you make good decisions.
- When you make good decisions, you don’t eat the junk.
- When you don’t eat the junk you save 100’s or even 1000’s of calories.
Sooooo… you may have burned 100 calories doing the exercise but the feelings you get from exercise will save you from many more calories.
Ok, now that we’re past that part here’s the real reason you lose weight when you exercise….drumroll please!
There is a correlation between stored trapped fat and stored trapped emotions!
It has been proven that exercising is a great tool for relieving stress and generating all those happiness chemicals. So if something or someone at work is bothering you it’s a great way to vent frustrations. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gone for a run or swim or bike ride and just screamed in my head to get the frustrations out.
It never fails that by the time I’m done with my workout I have released emotions that were otherwise stuck. And when I’m on a good kick of exercising consistently the emotions have less time to pile up on top of each other.
For me that translates into losing weight.
I struggled with my weight all my adult life.
I would gain 50lbs and lose 30 lbs and gain 30lbs and lose 40lbs and gain back 50lbs…… and on and on and on.
At some point I just gave up on trying to lose weight and I balanced out around the 250 pound area but that was only after I broke lose the first time from the 280 pound threshold.
I believed all kinds of things that as it turns out are just not true.
A few years ago I got my breakthrough and I’ve been a healthy normal weight now for years.
One of my keys was learning that as I released my emotions and dealt with my fears and struggles that the weight literally just fell off of me.
What does that mean for you?
Well once you make the connection between stored trapped fat and stored trapped emotions it’s amazing the transformation your body goes through.
Here’s a video I recorded telling my story it’s video #2 in a 4 video series, so if you want to see the first video and get my whole story FREE go to my video training page here.

My wife commented to me the other day that she thought I was losing more weight. (I’m about 5lbs over my race weight, and dropping.)
I told her that I haven’t even been doing the right things either. I have been eating late at night a treat/snack, and yet I’m down weight, not up weight!
Here’s the reason….
There is a correlation between stored trapped fat and stored trapped emotions.
It’s true!
So start releasing your frustrations, stress, and anxieties… go exercise!
